Parish Health Ministry
Mission Statement - "Parish Health Ministry is a caring ministry which wholistically promotes the physical, emotional and spiritual health and well-being of the Carmel Lutheran Church family."
Our Parish Health Ministry is a ministry of people in our church from a variety of health care backgrounds who have joined together to meet the health care needs of our members. We have monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in room 121, to plan and organize those programs and activities. If you have a health care background, you are invited to join and work together with our team. You can call Pastor Don Haase at (317) 814-4252 for further information.
Our next meetings will be August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19 and December 17.
Blood Pressure Checks
Our Parish Health Ministry Team is offering blood pressure checks on the second Sunday of each month in Room 121. Anyone is welcome stop by from 9:00-9:30 or 11:30-12:00 to have his/her blood pressure checked.
Parish Nurses are encouraged to call or e-mail Nanci Over (842-5464) or (overnanci@hotmail.com) to volunteer to take blood pressures on a month of your choice.
Help Provide an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
The Parish Health Ministry wants to purchase an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for Carmel Lutheran Church. The cost for one AED is $1400.00. We are asking for donations. Anyone who is interested in making a tax deductable donation for this item can simply place their check in the offering plate, or mail it to the church office. (Make check payable to "Carmel Lutheran Church" and put "Parish Health AED"on the memo line.)
Grace Place Retreat for Parish Nurses - September 24-28, 2007
Grace Place Lutheran Retreats will hold its first health and wholeness retreat for Lutheran Parish Nurses. This four day preventative health training experience will offer lifestyle skills and attitudes to focus on balancing physical, emotional, relational, intellectual and spiritual life at a very personal level, and to learn to integrate this into parish nurse ministry. Too often, care givers don't have or take opportunities for self-care ... they will during this special week. Retreat leadership will be under John D. Eckrich, M.D., Executive Director of Grace Place and an invigorating team of nursing and pastoral care advocates. The cost will be $95 per person which includes all programming, room and board and activities.
