Mother of Preschooler! MOPS
is an international outreach ministry formed to nurture mothers of preschoolers (infants to age 6). It is the goal of Carmel Lutheran Church to provide a Christ-centered, caring ministry where friendships, creativity, and personal relationships with other moms and Jesus Christ can develop. MOPS is about ...-
Celebrating motherhood
-
Meeting needs
-
Making connections
-
Experiencing God’s love
... through relationships and resources.
Seven years ago, the Mothers Of Preschooler (MOPS) ministry began at Carmel Lutheran with one day group and 35 moms. Today, more than 90 mothers of preschoolers meet twice a month in three different groups! Since MOPS inception, many mothers and their children have been touched by the MOPS ministry at Carmel Lutheran Church, and several families have come into membership at Carmel Lutheran due to the outreach efforts of the church and MOPS.
Today, you can look around the church to see how MOPS moms are serving and growing in their faith. You’ll find MOPS moms teaching in Sunday School, VBS, Midweek, volunteering with the youth and in the nursery, participating in the music ministry, worship ministry, supporting mission trips, leading team ministries, and making and serving meals at fellowship events, to name just a few. They are also attending one of the five Bible studies now offered by Women’s Ministry.
We have been blessed to have grown to three MOPS groups... two daytime and one evening. Meetings are held September through May as follows: The evening group meets 1st & 3rd Thursdays from 7-9 PM. One daytime group meets the 1st & 3rd Friday mornings from 9-11 AM and the second daytime group meets on the 2nd & 4th Friday mornings from 9-11 AM. Currently there is a wating list for the two Friday groups. Please contact the leaders (see below) for more information.

Childcare is provided
but more is needed!
Our Moppets program is a safe, fun environment for children. Both paid childcare workers and volunteers offer children a loving environment, and offer moms peace of mind that their children are in a safe place. We provide moms with pagers so they can be contacted at a moment's notice if an emergency arises.
Since 1999, the lives of more than 300 "Moppets" (the children of the Mothers of Preschoolers [MOPS] moms, ages infant-5 year olds) have been touched by the volunteers that care for them. And the lives of these volunteers have been touched by these little children, too! Currently, we have moms that want to become involved in this ministry. But we have to tell them no, there is not enough space for them, because we do not have enough volunteers in the Moppets Program. We must then place them on a waiting list. Many of these moms are UNCHURCHED, and so are their kids. Won’t you help us share Jesus’ love with them?
Please consider giving just a few hours of your time–even if it’s just one time–to nurture these precious children while the moms experience meaningful Christian fellowship. Everything is prepared ahead of time for you. We just need your loving arms! Help is needed every Friday, 8:30-11:30 a.m., from September-May. Please contact Jessica Kolanowski (jessicak@insightbb.com, 842-1677).
…because mothering matters!
