Prayer Ministry
Participate in our Prayer Team Ministry!
This ministry has expanded and been truly blessed. We have sponsored CLC’s participation in the National Day of Prayer (with a prayer primer insert for devotions in the April newsletter), and two prayer retreats. Ongoing opportunities include prayer partners for youth ("Cover our Kids"), creating prayer shawls, a prayer chain, "Moms in Touch", a Sunday morning Bible study on prayer, and intercessory prayer during worship services.
Please join us for a prayerful year with a ministry in which you’ll grow in your faith. Contact the church office at 814-4252 for information or to start serving now!
Cover our Kids
The confirmation years are special and at times trying years for young teens. This ministry seeks to provide adult prayer partners for all of our confirmation youth during the year. Interested adults commit to being a prayer partner for a confirmand and provide him/her with prayer support throughout the year for whatever concerns the confirmand may have. If you would like to be a prayer partner, contact Paige Miller at 566-1106.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawl Ministry here at Carmel Lutheran has grown from a single idea into a Spirit-driven ministry. To help get a better understanding of the ministry and what we’re doing, below are the answers to frequently asked questions:
-
What is the Prayer Shawl Ministry?
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of knitters, crocheters, sewers, and quilters who make lap blankets, shawls, and scarves to be given to all of those that are in need of physically feeling God’s love wrapped around them. -
What is a prayer shawl?
A prayer shawl can be anything from an over-the-shoulder shawl to a baby shawl to a lap blanket to a scarf—anything that can physically cover the receiver with a symbol of God’s love. -
Who can make prayer shawls?
Everyone can make a prayer shawl—no experience is necessary! Experienced knitters and crocheters are available to give FREE lessons at your convenience. -
Where do the prayer shawls go?
Prayer shawls are intended to go to anyone who needs to feel God’s love. So far, the shawls that have been given away through Carmel Lutheran have gone to cancer patients, those experiencing the loss of a loved one, and babies who have survived difficult births. It is our hope to expand the ministry to include shut-ins, all newborns, all who are experiencing loss, college students leaving home for the first time, and anyone else who needs to feel God’s love. -
Who decides where the prayer shawls go?
Currently the pastors of Carmel Lutheran and the members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry Team are making those decisions. However, we would like to see the ministry grow so that all of the members of Carmel Lutheran can freely distribute prayer shawls to anyone that needs one. -
What can I do to help?
Because the prayer shawls are being given away as fast as they are being donated, we are in need of crafters—knitters, crocheters, sewers, and quilters. FREE lessons are available.
